GOLDEN WEST TO HOST FACEBOOK PHOTO CONTEST The Baby Contest will run from March 1 through March 23, South Dakota Scenery Contest will run from March 26 through April 13, and the Pet Contest will run April 16 through May 4. Prizes of $100, $75, and $50 will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in each category. Entrants may submit to one or all divisions.Photos with the most customer “likes” will be entered in to the final round of judging. Contestants must be 18 years of age and Golden West customers to enter, photos must be family friendly, no professional photographers, please. For March 2012 March-26 to 30 Pine Ridge and Wanblee (Warehouse's Closed for Inventory) THE WAREHOuSE IS OPEN FROM 8:00AM TO 4:30PM EACH DAY, LISTEN TO KILI RADIO STATION FOR ANY CHANGES ON THE SCHEDuLE. Listed below is the criteria needed to participate in the commodity program: 1. Verification of Income, Check stubs, SSI & SSA Award letters; 2. Clients residency requires that they live on or near the reservation; 3. No district shall be permitted to pick up their commodities in pine Ridge until after seven working days; 4. No household shall be permitted to participate in the commodity and foodstamp program in the same month.

The 23rd annual Queen City Classic Basketball Tournament will be held March 23-25 in Spearfish. One hundred fifty two teams competed last year from Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, Nebraska and South Dakota. Registration fee is $150 per team, will all teams guaranteed three games. The tournament is open for girls and boys in grades 4 through 11. Deadline for entry into the tournament is March 9. CALL FOR QUILTS Calling all quilters! The 2012 Chadron Festival of Quilts invites you to enter your quilts in this year's show which will take place Friday, Saturday, and Sunday April 20, 21, and 22 at Assumption Arena. The show theme is "Embellish with Relish," but quilts of any style, size or theme are welcome. Trunk shows by Nancy Halvorsen of Art to Heart and Lynette Jensen of Thimbleberries, featured local quilter Kay Nickerson, vendors, door prizes, demonstrations and hundreds of fabulous quilts headline this event. HIGHER EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP The application deadline for the program for the Fall semester is July 15th, 2012. Applications can be picked up at the Higher Education Office in Rosebud or by calling 747-2375. The program provides funding for students who attend outside (other than SGu) Higher learning institutions. To be eligible for the program the following criteria must be met: 1. Show proof of enrollment with the Rosebud Sioux Tribe 2. Be enrolled in a program leading to an associates or bachelor’s degree 3. Must be eligible to receive federal aid. The deadline for the Rae Royer grant is also July 15th. The Rae Royer grant is used to fund students in masters and doctorial programs. Please return all information as specified. PUBLIC UTILITY TOWN MEETING March 30, 2012 AT THE RST TRIBAL COuNCIL CHAMBERS

ROSEBuD, SD -- Pursuant to the Rosebud Sioux Law and Order Code, Title 20: utilities, the Rosebud Sioux Tribal utility Commission has been established and is duly authorized to supervise and regulate the operation of all telecommunications, utilities, and cooperatives located or operating within the Rosebud Sioux Reservation, including Todd, Mellette, Tripp, Gregory and Lyman counties.

The jurisdiction of the Commission extends to all telecommunications services; cooperatives; pipeline utilities; electric utilities; artificial and natural gas utilities; water utilities; heating utilities; and all other utilities that operate, maintain or control any equipment or facilities within the Reservation.

In order to establish ongoing communications with the public and all subject telecommunications, utilities, and cooperatives located on or operating within the Rosebud Sioux Reservation, to promote an informed understanding of the scope and nature of such operations within the Reservation, and to provide said telecommunications, utilities, and cooperatives with information regarding the RSTuC Title 20 regulation, a public utility town meeting has been set for March 30, 2012. The public utility town meeting will begin at 10:00 a.m. and end at 2:00 p.m., at the RST Tribal Council Chambers in Rosebud, South Dakota. The public will be able to address the Commission on concerns with rates and services on your utility, water, electric, propane and telecommunications service providers. Also, the utility, water, electric, propane and telecommunications service providers the opportunity to visit with the public on their rates and services their company provides to you.
