Dreamer to Reddy seals late come from behind victory for Thorpes over Lead-Deadwood

PINE RIDGE - Lead-Deadwood scored on a two yard run with 2:03 left in the fourth quarter to go up 27-22 over Pine Ridge Friday night in the season opener for both football teams; Pine Ridge quarterback, senior Jacob Dreamer rallied his team down the field, hitting Cole Reddy on a 20 yard TD pass with :34 seconds left on the clock, Jess Trueblood kicked the PAT to make the final score Thorpes 29-27 Diggers.

Lead-Deadwood opened the scoring with a 65 yard punt return by Trevor Fish at the 8:43 mark of the first quarter, the point after by Jack Davis gave the Diggers a 7-0 lead. Dreamer connected on an eight yard TD pass with Roberto Jaquez who then ran for the two point on version to give Pine Ridge their first lead. Trevor Fish reeled off a 35 yard TD run to put the Diggers back into the lead going up 14-8. Dreamer's pass was deflected for an interception, the Diggers added a 23 yard field goal to go up 17-8 with 3:50 left in the first quarter.

With 5:37 on the clock in the second quarter, Dreamer intercepted a pass and ran it back for a 50 yard pic 6, closing the gap to 17-14. With time running out in the first half, Dreamer found Reddy in the end zone for a 14 yard touchdown pass, a two point conversion gave Pine Ridge a 22-17 halftime lead. Halfway through the third, the Diggers added another field goal to cut the deficit to 22-20.

Pine Ridge travels to Red Cloud on Friday.
