Alvin Gene Bettelyoun, Sr. was born on December 19, 1948 in Long Valley, SD to Rossie, Sr. and Eugenia (Witt) Bettelyoun. Alvin made his journey to the Spirit World on May 30, 2017 at his home in New Prague, MN.

Alvin is survived by his spouse, Vonnie Bettelyoun of New Prague, MN; sons, Alvin Bettelyoun, Jr. and Curtis (Raquel Yankton) Bettelyoun, Sr. both of Wanblee, SD; daughters, April Bettelyoun of Prior Lake, MN, Crystal Bettelyoun-Shoning of New Prague, MN, and Alicia Peacock of Lake Andes, SD; brothers, Harley Bettelyoun of Prescott, AZ, Edward Bettelyoun, Sr. of Long Valley, SD, Ross Bettelyoun, Jr. of Hisle, SD, Clifford Bettelyoun of Belvidere, SD, Lawrence Bettelyoun of Wanblee, SD, Tim Swallow of Boston, MA, and Albert Bettelyoun of Mission, SD; sisters, Tina Bettelyoun, Lois Bettelyoun, and Brenda Bettelyoun- Yankton of Wanblee, SD; 29 grandchildren, special loving niece, Kelsie Whiting; and numerous greatgrandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, & cousins.

Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, Rossie and Eugenia Bettelyoun; children, Jason Bettelyoun, Sr. and Mary Bettelyoun; brother, George Bettelyoun, Sr.; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and grandchildren.

A two-night wake service starting at 3:00 PM, Saturday & Sunday, June 10 & 11, 2017 at the Crazy Horse School in Wanblee, SD. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM, Monday, June 12, 2017 at the Crazy Horse School in Wanblee, SD., with Deacon Gerald Bush officiating and traditional Lakota services conducted by Mr. Robert Cross, Sr.,.

Burial services concluded at the Grace Cemetery, Martin, SD.

Arrangements entrusted with Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD.
